Snap is introducing Context Cards to its immensely popular AR-based photo-messaging app. As you can see from the video above, simply swipe up, and Context Cards will give you more information about the places you see thanks to Snapchat's partnership with TripAdvisor, Foursquare, Michelin, goop, and more. For instance, if your friend sends you a photo of amazing food taken at a nearby restaurant, you can easily read people's reviews, get the address, reserve a table through third-party apps, and request a ride with Uber or Lyft all right inside the Snapchat app.

The company says that with Context Cards, it hopes to help people "[learn] more about the world, empowering our community to get more information about anything that catches their eye."

Now you can embed links, change your voice, and add backdrops to your Snaps

July 5: Snap Inc. is rolling out a new update to its image messaging with three new

features: Paperclips, Backdrops, and Voice Filters. Paperclips essentially introduces the ability to embed links to external websites within your Snaps. Backdrops are similar to the AR filters that Snapchat already offers, but instead of the camera detecting your face, you get to cut out the objects you want in the foreground. Tap the scissors icon, trace around the main object, and apply the Backdrop you like. Finally, Voice Filters let you change your voice when sending Snap videos.

Snapchat adds Snap Map

June 21: Snapchat is adding a new feature called Snap Map, which gives you an overview of where your friends are on a map as well as what they're up to. Simply pinch to zoom out, and you have your Map. You can share your location with friends or keep it to yourself in Ghost Mode. On the Map, you'll see Actionmoji of your friends who have shared their locations, which you can tap to see their Stories. Whether it's a music festival or a BBQ party, the idea is that you'll be able to see what your friends are up to nearby and join them if you're looking for something to do.

Custom Snapchat Stories

May 23: Snapchat is rolling out a new feature for users that's an expansion of its popular Stories. This new addition will allow users to create custom Stories with their friends, based around a shared event or location. You can not only add friends as contributors to these Stories, you can also choose who can view it. This is certainly going to be a welcome feature for hardcore Snapchat users. In addition, there's also a way to Geofence the communal Story, which we're assuming means you'll only be able to see it if you're in the predetermined place.

Limitless Snaps

May 9: The new "Limitless Snaps" options will let you send Snaps that don't expire after ten seconds or less. When you receive a limitless Snap, you can view it for as long as you'd like, then close it when you're done. After you close the Snap, the image will delete as usual. There's also a new Loop tool for videos. This lets you decide if your Snap plays just once or loops until the recipient is ready to tap to the next Snap. Lastly, the new Magic Eraser tool allows you to censor a certain part of an area on your photo. This new tool can be found under the Scissor tool option.

World Lenses arrive

April 18World Lenses let you add augmented reality-powered 3D lenses to the world around you. Just fire up the camera screen in the Snapchat app and make sure your rear-facing camera is activated. You can then add a cloud, a rainbow, flowers, a floating 'OMG' sign, and more. These are just a few of the objects you can add at the moment; Snap says the lineup will change daily.
