Samsung Galaxy S8 Active landing on T-Mobile and Sprint this month

Following the release of the Galaxy S8 Active on AT&T in August, rumors began circulating that it might make its way to other carriers. The Samsung Galaxy S Active range have traditionally been exclusive to AT&T, but this year there were strong indications it was going elsewhere.

Today, Samsung has confirmed the rumors with the announcement that the Galaxy S8 Active is heading to both Sprint and T-Mobile.

Samsung delivered the information via press release, stating that the device will arrive to both carriers later this month in Meteor Gray — one of the color variants also available on AT&T (it looks like AT&T will retain the Titanium Gold version as an exclusive, however).

T-Mobile says the S8 Active will be available online November 17 and at select T-Mobile stores on November 22 for $100 down and $30 per month for 24 months on an Equipment Installment Plan, or for $100 down and $29 per month on a JUMP! On Demand 18-month lease. Full retail price is $820.

On AT&T, the Galaxy S8 Active will be available for $28.34 per month for 30 months or for $849.99 full retail.

Samsung didn't discuss the reason behind the wider availability this year, or why Verizon isn't also getting the Active, in its press release.

The Active versions of Samsung's flagships set themselves apart from the standard devices with a more rugged design — in the case of the S8 Active, that means military-grade durability and a shatter-resistant display. The device also includes a 4,000 mAh battery, up 1,000 mAh on the regular Galaxy S8 battery.

We'll keep you posted on the precise release date with Sprint and T-Mobile, as well as how much it will cost, when we learn more. For now, you can read more of our thoughts on the Galaxy S8 Active at the link.
