- Google has published a list of devices that will get the Wear OS update.
- The list does not drastically differ from the list of smartwatches that would get Android 8.0 Oreo.
- Google rebranded Android Wear to Wear OS, though the changes are mostly cosmetic.
Google's rebranding of Android Wear to Wear OS might not have been entirely surprising, but it was still noteworthy. Less noteworthy are the changes with Wear OS, since there are none.
Because of that, Google's list of Android Wear smartwatches that will get the Wear OS update is almost identical to the December list of smartwatches that would get Android 8.0 Oreo. A couple of new additions include the Skagen Falster and TAG Heuer Connected Modular 41, as they were announced in the time since that December list.
Here is the full list of devices that will get Wear OS:
-
Casio PRO TREK Smart WSD-F20
-
Casio WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch
-
Diesel Full Guard
-
Emporio Armani Connected
-
Fossil Q Control
-
Fossil Q Explorist
-
Fossil Q Founder 2.0
-
Fossil Q Marshal
-
Fossil Q Venture
-
Fossil Q Wander
-
Guess Connect
-
Gc Connect
-
Huawei Watch 2 (both cellular & non-cellular versions)
-
Hugo BOSS BOSS
These smartwatches will get the Wear OS update over the next few weeks. Again, the update is just a rebranding to Wear OS, so do not expect new features.
Also, keep in mind that the Android Wear app was also updated to reflect the rebranding. Interestingly, the new Wear OS app does feature some changes, such as improved screen glanceability with darker backgrounds, improved Google Keep experience, and more.
On a smaller note, the next version of Google Play Services will also feature Wear OS branding when pairing.
