Honor has officially unveiled its latest flagship, the Honor 10, at an event in China. The Huawei sub-brand's new device will go on sale from April 27 in the region and will retail for ¥2,599 (~$414). A global launch is expected to be confirmed at an event in London, U.K. on May 15.
The most striking aspect of the Honor 9 successor is its design, which takes more than a few cues from Huawei's recent P20 series.
On the front, we have a 5.84-inch FullView LCD display with a 2,280 x 1080 resolution, a 19:9 aspect ratio, and a notch cutout that houses a 24MP selfie camera. This is surrounded by 2.5D glass on both the front and rear of the phone over an aluminum frame. It also sports a thin fingerprint sensor on the front 'chin' bezel.
As well as traditional color schemes like Black and Teal, the Honor 10 is also available in Twilight (pictured above) with a prismatic effect that switches between shades of blue, purple, and pink, much like the Twilight Huawei P20. Honor has been toying with light reflections for a while, but the Honor 10 looks absolutely gorgeous and we can't wait to try it out for ourselves.
The Honor 10 also features an "AI Camera" suite made possible by the Kirin 970 SoC's NPU capabilities and the 24MP and 16MP dual-camera on the rear. According to Honor (via Gadgets 360), this "AI 2.0" technology enables better portrait selfies, enhanced face detection (no word on Face Unlock), and other camera features.
Under the hood, the base model comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage (expandable up to 256GB). A 6GB RAM/128GB ROM variant will also be made available in China for ¥2,999 (~$478).
Both models are outfitted with a non-removable 3,400mAh battery with quick charge support and run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with the latest EMUI skin on top. It also sports a USB Type-C port and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, which should cover all bases for music fans.
We'll know more about international availability and pricing in just a few weeks time, although it's unlikely to ever officially see the light of day in the U.S.. What do you make of Honor's new flagship? Let us know in the comments.
