Google Feed has undergone a series of changes over the past few months, some good, some incredibly concerning. The latest change definitely falls into the former camp with the addition of unique topic-specific feeds.
The updated Feed, which appears to be rolling out globally (via 9to5Google), now handily groups together related articles under dedicated categories. Tapping the topic will now bring up a separate feed that brings together posts from around the net related to that particular category.
Google Pixel 3: All the rumors and leaks in one place (Updated June 4)
Phone Designer In this post, which will be updated regularly, we'll be looking at the latest rumors surrounding the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Last year's Google Pixel 2 received plenty of acclaim, even if they …
To get started, all you need to do is head over to Google Feed and tap the topic name or the newly added arrow symbol at the top of a card. You can see this in action in the screenshots below.
The regular Feed menu will stay visible when accessing a topic feed. Your only
other option, aside from tapping an article, is leaving feedback via the hamburger menu (three dots) in the top right. All other options, such is dismissing topics and hiding stories, are still located in the main Feed.
Personally, I love this change. Feed is still far from perfect when it comes to selecting topics that appeal to readers, but the new topic feeds make it much easier to find a bunch of the latest articles on a particular subject without having to perform a regular Google search. It also gives the reader more freedom to browse various websites and publications and not just have to deal with a single report which Google deems is the best/most relevant.
Has the new Feed gone live for you? What do you think of the new topic feeds? Let us know in the comments.
