Vivo Nex to be sold outside of China (woop!) but not yet in the U.S. (boo!)

Vivo will sell the Vivo Nex outside of China, the company has confirmed in a press release. The flagship phone, notable for its fullscreen display and pop-up camera, went on sale in the territory earlier today.

Vivo will put the Nex on sale in Hong Kong, Russia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and India, before the end of this month, though no other territories have been confirmed.

class="ra-excerpt">The Vivo Nex smartphone is the first truly all-screen device to hit the market. One of the novel ways it achieves that all-screen look is by hiding the front-facing camera in a little pop-up selfie …

The Vivo Nex grabbed many headlines in recent weeks due to its more than 91 percent screen to body ratio — a design achieved without much in the way of sacrifices. The Nex manages to maintain a selfie camera and fingerprint authentication thanks to a motorized camera that pops up out of the top of the device and under display fingerprint scanning tech.

Disappointingly, Vivo hasn't made any promises with regards to launching the handset in Western Europe or the U.S. With that being said, Kris Carlon found several issues with it in our full Vivo Nex review that may ward you off anyway.

The Vivo Nex price starts at 3,898 yuan in China (~$580), but if you want to import one in the U.S., you can expect to pay a hefty premium.
