New MIUI 10 beta for Pocophone F1 fixes annoying “OK Google” flaw

  • A new Pocophone F1 MIUI 10 beta release just hit the Xiaomi MIUI forums.
  • The release fixes two major errors: "OK Google" not working, as well as audio distortion via headphones while playing PUBG Mobile.
  • The Pocophone F1 MIUI 10 build is based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Xiaomi's Android skin known as MIUI isn't the most universally-loved skin in the Android world. However, Xiaomi works pretty hard to keep it up-to-date on at least most of its devices, even if its track record of opening up the source code is a bit spotty.

With Xiaomi's newest sub-brand Poco launching the Pocophone F1, it seems like Xiaomi is going to ramp up its efforts when it comes to software updates. MIUI 10 global beta 8.9.13 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and brings us one step closer to a stable release of the latest-and-greatest from the Android skin. Since other Xiaomi phones already have a stable release of MIUI 10 — like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 ProXiaomi Mi 5Xiaomi Mi 6Xiaomi Mi Mix, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 — a stable launch for the Pocophone F1 is imminent.

Here are the three bug fixes that are present in this new MIUI 10 beta:

  • Fix – Some App icons are not showing in notification panel
  • Fix – The issue of "OK Google" not working
  • Fix – The issue of low and distorted headphone output sound while playing PUBG

To upgrade to the latest beta from a stable MIUI version, you need to push the beta file to your phone and then manually update. Xiaomi provides instructions on how to do so here and you can download the MIUI 10 beta file here. Just be forewarned: upgrading to a beta version will wipe your device!
