This week was big in terms of mobile news. The tech world was buzzing with anticipation for the IFA show in Berlin (which is now done, mobile-wise) and there were a few big announcements in store.
Right off the bat Xiaomi launched its Pocophone F1 to the global market and subsequently sold more than 68 thousand units in 5 minutes.
Sony announced its first ever AMOLED smartphone in the Xperia XZ3 and LG unveiled the G7 Fit, G7 One and a Raspberry Rose G7 ThinQ.
Meanwhile, Realme released its second smartphone, aptly named Realme 2 and finally the Huawei Mate 20 Lite went on pre-order in Germany and Poland.
Apple stole some of the IFA thunder when on the eve of the show it announced its September 12 iPhone event. Rumors suggest that Apple will announce three iPhones - a cheaper 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, an upgraded iPhone X with a 5.8-inch AMOLED display and a full-on 6.5-inch AMOLED flagship iPhone X Plus. A render of Apple's next iPhones surfaced the day the media invite was sent out.
The rest of the hot topics this week include the first official teaser of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3, which will have an Oppo Find X-esque slider for the camera. Honor also teased a phone with a slide-out camera module - the Magic 2.
Nokia obtained the Pureview trademark, sparking wild speculation about high-megapixel Nokia phones in the pipeline.
Finally the upcoming three Galaxy S10 are rumored to all feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. Given that none of the current in-display scanner solutions are quite as fast as the regular scanners, it will be interesting to see if this rumor turns out true.
See you next week!
The Poco appears solidly built with many screws holding it together and it looks surprisingly easy to repair.
The Spanish Poco site is offering a €30 coupon that brings the price down to €300. The French site is pricier, however.
Although the company hasn't disclosed the exact number, it's somewhere in between 68,965 and 100,000.
The phone might arrive alongside another device called Redmi Note 6 Pro.
Three new iPhones are expected to become official next month, more details about them have been outed.
However, not all three models will use the same kind of reader - the two more premium models will enjoy better security and reliability.
This is as close to an official announcement as it gets - you can now buy the Mate 20 Lite in Europe.
