The ZTE nubia Z18 was unveiled earlier this month with a 91.8% screen-to-body ratio – that’s a lot of screen. But it’s just one screen. If this video that shows the nubia Z18S is to be believed, a two-screen model is in the works.
The second screen is on the rear and is much larger than what the Meizu Pro 7 had. It’s large enough to run the full UI of the phone.
The main benefit of that is that you can use the full camera app and get a huge viewfinder. As you may have noticed, there’s no notch on the front display and, in fact, no selfie camera. Why bother when there’s a capable dual camera on the back (with flash and all) that can be used to take selfies?
Another detail to notice is the side-mounted fingerprint reader. On the nubia Z18, the FP reader is on the back, though that is now taken up by the second screen. Well, in-display readers do exist, but let’s not get greedy – the phone is thick enough as it is.
If you want a clearer look at the phone, check out this leak from late June, a promo image of some kind. It shows a clock as one of the options, which suggests that the rear screen may have Always On functionality.
