Folks are having trouble activating the Razer Phone 2 on Verizon

The Razer Phone 2 just became available on Monday and despite being officially supported on Verizon as per Razer and its website, customers have not been able to successfully activate the phone on a Verizon line.

In order to make calls on Verizon’s network, a phone must be officially enabled by Verizon to open the VoLTE protocol for phone calls and text messages. For whatever reason, Verizon hadn’t fully enabled the Razer Phone 2 on the carrier and Razer had to tweet that it was working on a fix.

That was early this morning. What some repliers have tweeted is that they are able to add the Razer Phone to a Verizon line by requesting a switch to a “CDMA-Less profile” which indicates that the line would only connect to LTE and not the legacy CDMA network.

Since the phone is GSM Unlocked, it supports all GSM networks like AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, but it’s a bit more complicated for a phone to work on Verizon. It is a CDMA network that’s towards the end of its CDMA phase. The way it can do this is by relying purely on LTE coverage – which is pretty much all of Verizon’s coverage nowadays.

If you’ve got a Razer phone finally working on Verizon, we want to hear about it! Let us know in the comments.
