Android introduces new Wear OS update version "H" with new power save feature

Today, Google Support has released a post announcing the latest version of Wear OS "H". We're not exactly sure what the letter H stands for as we've not seen Google use this sort of naming scheme for Wear OS versions.

The new H update includes a few new features for Wear OS:

  • Battery Saver Mode Update: Battery saver will automatically kick in when battery falls below 10%
  • Improved Off Body Efficiency: Watch will
enter deep sleep after it hasn't been worn for 30 minutes
  • Smart App Resume for all Apps: You won't lose your place in Watch Apps anywhere if you decide to come back to them
  • Two Step Power Off: Hold Power button to see the power menu instead of digging through the settings
  • This update will be progressively rolling out over the coming months. Your device may not immediately be eligible for this update and will be determined by your watch manufacturer. Some functionality may vary by device. - Wear OS Team

The last time Wear OS was updated was with a new UI layout with easy swipe-shortcuts to Google Fit and Google's Assistant Feed. With every update, Wear OS seems to be shifting things around which makes it hard to keep up. We're glad to see that Google is not letting Wear OS stay on the back burner. Google/Android still has a lot to do to improve the platform.
