The Samsung Galaxy Home is reportedly shipping in April

If you're like us, you might have wondered why the Samsung Galaxy Home hasn't been released yet. Well, shortly after the Galaxy S10 was unveiled at the company's Unpacked event, DJ Koh, Samsung's head of mobile business, told CNET that the smart speaker is launching in April.

As a refresher, the Samsung Galaxy Home is a Bixby-powered smart speaker that was announced alongside the Galaxy Note 9 back in August 2018. While we were able to check out the device in-person at the company's Developers Conference in November, Samsung never announced when the speaker would go on sale.

Samsung Galaxy Home hands-on: Do you want Bixby in your home?

Back in August of this year, Samsung surprised us with the Samsung Galaxy Home. No one was really expecting this smart speaker, because we'd all gone to New York to see the Samsung Galaxy Note …

Just like with Google Homes, Amazon Echos, and Apple's HomePod, the Samsung Galaxy Home will allow customers to ask a virtual assistant — in this case, Bixby — general queries and control smart home products. Additionally, they will be able to listen to music from streaming services such as Spotify utilizing the device's Harman speakers.

Samsung will hopefully provide us with more information about the Galaxy Home's launch soon. Until then, we still don't know how much the smart speaker will cost.
