Android Q Beta brings Screen Recording

We rarely see a native feature first appear on iOS and then on Android, but here we are. According to the YouTube channel Techusiast, the Android Q Developer Preview Beta 1 already has Screen Recording feature, confirming rumors from earlier this year.

Spotted on the Google Pixel subreddit, one user explains that Beta users can go to Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Developer Options -> Feature Flags and then to enable “settings_screenrecord_long_press”. Then you’ll be able to start screen recording by long-pressing the Screenshot button, initially launched with the Power key.

will ask you to approve record voiceover and show taps, and then voila - it starts recording. You can see how it’s done in the video above after the 7:30 marker.

The Power menu also brings out the Emergency option, which is currently available only through the lockscreen when you start typing your PIN. Previous rumors also pointed to Sensor Privacy, Wi-Fi WPA3 and 5G support. We expect all these features to be officially announced between May 7 and May 9 when the Google I/O is taking place.
