Yesterday a teaser poster surfaced, seemingly confirming that Redmi's next phone will be called the Redmi X. Well, it won't be.
Redmi GM Lu Weibing has gone on record on Weibo to say that Redmi X isn't the name of the phone and that Redmi will have a better name for it.
This spares us tech journos and the general public from further confusion between Xiaomi's Redmi and Oppo's Realme. The latter looks certain to release a device called

Back to Redmi. Xiaomi's sub-brand is expected to drop a Snapdragon 855-powered device later this year with a triple camera and pop-up selfie camera. But it's expected that Redmi will first release a Snapdragon 730-powered phone.
