This was the week that Google chose to hold its I/O Conference at which it detailed what's coming in Android Q this fall and announce the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL midrangers.
The Pixel 3a is starting at $399 or €399 and brings a 1080p OLED, the same 12.2MP camera with Night Sight and HDR+ as the Pixel 3, stereo speakers and the pure Android experience. Drawbacks include a plastic body, no IP rating or wireless charging, no second ultra-wide selfie camera and only a Snapdragon 670 chipset.
Sharp announced the Aquos R3 with a potent combination of a Snapdragon 855 and a 120Hz screen. And while it sounds nice on paper, it's unlikely that we'll see it outside of Japan.
Another unveiling this week was the Huawei P smart Z. Outside of the mouthful of a name, the phone features a big 6.59-inch screen, pop-up selfie camera and dual rear camera for a sub-€300 price.
Moving on to the big stories for next week. OnePlus will premiere the mild refresh that is the OnePlus 7 and the highly-anticipated OnePlus 7 Pro next week on May 14. The OnePlus 7 Pro will have an HDR10+ screen and zippy UFS 3.0 storage. It will also come in an Almond color.
Also coming next week is the Realme X. It will be Realme's best phone yet thanks to a 6.5-inch AMOLED with buit-in fingerprint scanner, a Snapdragon 730 chipset and a 48MP camera.
The Asus ZenFone 6 is yet another phone due for a release next week - a proper flagship phone with a Snapdragon 855 chip, 48MP snapper and 5,000mAh battery.
Speaking of upcoming phones, the Galaxy Fold may have edged a step closer to its return. Samsung promised to detail the new shipping information for the Galaxy Fold in the coming weeks but has now sent emails to pre-ordees delaying that information.
We got an exclusive batch of image of the Honor 20 Pro too - this one is coming the week after next.
Capping off the big stories of the week we saw renders of Apple's 2019 iPhone lineup. The iPhone XI and XI Max (yes, seriously fix those names) with their triple cameras and the iPhone XR successor with its dual one. The renders show a design we're not crazy about at first glance, but we'll hold off on our judgement until we see the final thing.
The 3.5mm audio jack makes a comeback!
It will flaunt a notchless display having a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels.
It also has a dual camera setup at the back which consists of 12.2MP and 20MP units.
If the price is right, the Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite will be a pretty sweet deal.
More phones than ever are participating in an Android beta.
The phones will be announced in Beijing.
AMOLED screen and elevating camera were confirmed too.
New shipping info should be announced "in the coming weeks". Unless the Fold ships by the end of the month, current pre-orders will be canceled.
There quad-camera setup on the back is clearly visible too.

The Sony Xperia 1 is rumored to launch some time in June.
This is the ranking for April, but there are a few May releases that will challenge the dominance of the Mi phones.
As the iPhone XI move from dual to triple camera, the XR model will remain one camera short.
It's confirmed to be version 10, but a name is still missing.
This is the first Huawei with a pop-up camera. The phone sports a dual camera and a dual texture finish on the back.
Previously we've seen it in Mirror Grey as well as Nebula Blue.
We hope that YouTube and Netflix will be supported for HDR10+ content.
