Samsung announced its 64 MP camera sensor for smartphones and companies immediately started racing which will put it on an actual smartphone first. Realme already demoed the technology and we had a hands-on, but the Redmi Note 8 Pro seems determined to beat it to the market.
Just days ahead of the announcement Lu Weibing, the brand manager of Redmi, posted a photo with the new phone on Weibo, and today he went even further, printing and putting a printed 64MP image in front of Xiaomi’s HQ, then promptly posing for a photo next to the three-meter-tall poster.
This being a Tetracell sensor, it's actually meant to produce 16MP images with 4-to-1 pixel binning, and at that resolution the quality is impressive. You can see fine details in the offices on the top floors of the Di Wang Tower and while it's too early to pass final verdicts things are promising.
