A new device is getting ready to join Oppo's K series, following the K3 from a few months ago. The Oppo K5 will still be a mid-ranger by the looks of things, but as its name implies will sit above the K3 in the Chinese company's roster.
The Oppo phone with the model number PCNM00 has just been certified for sale in China by TENAA, the relevant regulatory agency, and this is rumored to be the handset that's going to end up being marketed as Oppo K5.
The certification process has given us some pictures of the phone, as well as a bunch of its specs. The K5 should thus boast a 6.4-inch 1080x2340 touchscreen with an embedded fingerprint sensor, a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 3,920 mAh battery that will support the new 30W VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge. It runs Android 9 Pie with the latest version of ColorOS on top.
There are four cameras on the rear: 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP, and a 32MP snapper
for selfies. Although there are no other details about them, we can infer that the 64 MP cam is the main one, with the 8 MP being either ultrawide or telephoto, while one of the 2 MP shooters could be a dedicated macro cam whereas the other would be a depth sensor. This arrangement does sound familiar, as the upcoming
Realme X2 has been rumored to get it too. In fact it looks like the X2 and K5 could pretty much be the same device, with different branding.
The K5's dimensions are 158.7×75.2×8.6mm, and it weighs 182g. It will be offered in green, blue, and white, at least in the Chinese market. The phone should become official next month.
