Qualcomm recently unveiled the Snapdragon 865+ chipset, setting off a race between smartphone makers over who's going to update their lineup first. Asus, Lenovo and Samsung already announced new phones with it, but the rest of the gaming phone makers will follow sooner rather than later.
The brand manager of Black Shark recently posted a cryptic post on Weibo from a phone called Black Shark 3S and today we get a date for its announcement - Friday, July 31. It will also have a Tencent version, a unit of which will be gifted to a random Weibo user who reposts the message.
The new phone will obviously have the Snapdragon 865+ chipset. Other improved specs we might get is the refresh rate of the screen - the Black Shark 3 Pro has “only” 90 Hz, while competition is already at 144Hz.
We do expect the overall design of the Black Shark 3S to remain the same with mirrored triangles on the back, as well as the physical trigger keys. Charging is likely to be in the ballpark of 65W, but since Xiaomi has already certified a 120W charging technology, the 3S might be able to go higher.
