JD.com briefly listed a new Huawei MatePad 10.8 tablet, an upgrade over the MatePad M6 10.8 from last year. The price of the Wi-Fi only model was set at CNY 2,300 ($330/€280), which matches the launch cost of the M6 10.8. However, the new slate will have 6GB of RAM (up from 4 GB on the M6) paired with 64 GB storage.
Also, the MatePad 10.8 will upgrade to the Kirin 990, the same chipset used in the flagship MatePad Pro tablet (which starts at CNY 3,300 and has a 10.8” AMOLED display).
The screen resolution will likely remain the same (2,560 x 1,600 px, 16:10) and it will support the M-Pencil stylus (also, there will be a keyboard add-on). Battery capacity will remain the same as on the M6, 7,500 mAh. The tablet will be equipped with quad Harman Kardon speakers plus Huawei Histen 6.1 audio tech.

Additional connectivity includes new Wi-Fi 6 support and NFC. There will most likely be a 5G version of this slate as well. The M6 was also available in an 8.4” variant, but we haven’t seen this yet for this new model.
The Huawei MatePad 10.8 will launch on JD.com on July 30, shipments will start on August 13. There will be an early bird deal for the tablet, CNY 100 off.
The 30th will also see the introduction of the new MateBook D 15 Ryzen Edition, a TalkBand B6 fitness tracker and the Kids Watch 4X. Another recent leak showed another slate, the Huawei Tablet C5 10, that appeared on Vmall with a CNY 2,700 price tag and a 10.4” 2,000 x 1,200 px display.
