Asus issues Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro update with an urgent hotfix for the camera

The latest firmware update for the Asus Zenfone 7 and Zenfone 7 Pro is rolling out starting today, its version is 29.13.7.44. The update servers will be sending out notifications in batches (based on the devices’ serial numbers) so it may take a few days to reach you.

Which isn’t great as the changelog sounds kind of urgent, here are the top two items:

  • Hotfix for camera license expiration at the end of October 2020
  • Please ensure upgrade to this
version for proper camera functionality

We’re not sure what that’s about, but the other changes are a lot less crucial. They include fixing an occasional shaking issue when recording 60 fps video, optimizing camera effects and tuning the logic of what the flip camera does when it hits an obstacle.

This update also adds VoWiFi support for Hong Kong carrier CSL and revises the APN settings for Italian carrier Windtre.
