A new report coming straight from China claims that Huawei is in the final stage of testing the so-called liquid lens, which is supposed to largely improve image stabilization and focus times. In fact, the focus time will be reduced to a couple of milliseconds matching the focus time of the human eye.
It's said that the tech will be used for the telephoto camera first so instead of moving the lenses, the module will change the shape of the liquid through varying voltage so it focuses the light.
As a bonus, the implementation will be more durable to shock as well, compared to the traditional focusing motors.
According to a renowned Chinese tipster, the lens will be paired with the still unannounced Sony IMX782 sensor and as we already pointed out, it will be used in a telephoto setup.
