The latest Chromebook additions in Acer’s fleet are the Spin 511 and Spin 512. Both are 2-in-1 convertibles that are targeted at the education market though you will be able to pick them up for personal use as well. Both new laptops are powered by Intel chipsets, come with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity offer 8GB RAM and up to 64GB eMMC storage.
The Spin 511 packs an 11.6-inch touchscreen IPS LCD with HD resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Spin 512 ups the size to 12” and offers HD+ resolution in a 3:2 aspect ratio. Both new Chromebooks are MIL-STD 810H certified to withstand daily wear and tear in the classroom and also offer antimicrobial screen and keyboard coatings.
The chipsets powering the two laptops are Intel's N4500 and N5100 which should ensure up to 10 hours of battery life. The port selection on both includes two USB 3.2 Type-C ports as well as two standard USB 3.2 Type-A ports alongside a microSD slot and headphone/mic combo.
Chromebook Spin 511 goes on sale in April for $400/€369 while the Spin 512 model will be available from March for $430/€400.
