Samsung will unveil the Galaxy M02 on February 2, a more affordable version of the Galaxy M02s. The new model will cost under INR 7,000 and will be sold through Amazon – you can find the dedicated landing page here.
It contains a few details – the screen will be an Infinity-V panel, 6.5” in size and with 720p+ resolution. Also, the battery will have 5,000 mAh capacity. That matches the M02s so far, so what has changed? The price savings have to come from somewhere.
We think that this phone will have the model number SM-M022, you can find SAR information for it on Samsung’s official site. There’s also a support page for it on Samsung Thailand, so this won’t be an India-exclusive.
Anyway, considering that the Galaxy A02s is nearly identical to the M02s, we think that the Galaxy M02 will be based on the A02 (which was unveiled today for the Thai market). This means a MediaTek MT6739W chipset (with quad Cortex-A53 CPU), 13MP rear camera (+2MP macro), 5MP selfie camera and a leisurely 7.5W battery charging speed.
The Samsung Galaxy M02 will have a 6.5" HD+ display and a 5,000 mAh battery
The Galaxy M02s was announced in early January and is already available at INR 9,000. The event for the vanilla M02 will be next week, starting on February 2 at 1PM local time.
