Leaked renders and images of the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro suggested these phones won't come with periscope lenses, and we've heard the same from reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, who said the lineup will come with a regular telephoto unit instead. Now tipster Max Jambor has corroborated that bit, saying neither the vanilla 9 nor the Pro variant will feature a periscope module.
It's unclear why OnePlus doesn't want to implement this tech since Oppo and Realme have launched smartphones with a periscope camera onboard, and it will be interesting to know the Chinese phone maker's rationale behind this decision.
OnePlus 9 Pro render leaked by OnLeaksWhile OnePlus is giving the periscope tech a miss on the OnePlus 9 series, we hope to see the lineup still come with some camera improvements since OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has said the company will focus its R&D efforts to improve the cameras on its smartphones.
The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro are rumored to arrive in March with Snapdragon 888 SoC and 120Hz screens. These will be joined by a Lite variant, which is said to come with a Snapdragon 865 at the helm.
