Huawei confirms its folding Mate X2 will be announced on February 22

On its Weibo handle, Huawei officially confirmed that it will announce the successor to the Mate XS. The Huawei Mate X2 will be announced on February 22, this comes shortly after a report speculated the design was folding smartphone’s launch was imminent.

The poster teases the Mate X2's display, which will invert the folding direction of the screen to an inward-folding one.

Previous reports point to diagonal screen size of 8.01” with a resolution of 2480x2222 and since the phone will fold inwards like the Galaxy Z Fold 2, it will feature a 6.45” external display as well. It will reportedly support a 90Hz refresh rate on these displays, supplied by Samsung and BOE.

The Mate X2 will be powered by the 5nm Kirin 9000 5G chipset and will reportedly support Android 10, 66W charging, and a battery rated at 4,400 mAh.
