Sony today is finally launching the PlayStation 5 in India. The console will be available through online and offline retailers, including Amazon, Flipkart, Croma , Reliance Digital, Games The Shop, Shop at Sony Center, and Vijay Sales. The PlayStation 5 is priced at INR 49,990 for the standard model and 39,990 for the Digital Edition.
At launch, only the standard edition of the console seems to be on sale. The standard edition is the one that includes the UHD Blu-ray drive for games and media. The Digital Edition has been announced for India, but will be on sale later.
You will also be able to purchase all the new accessories, including the DualSense Wireless Controller (INR 5,990), HD Camera (INR 5,190), PULSE 3D Wireless Headset (INR 8590), Media Remote (INR 2,590), and the DualSense Charging Station (INR 2,590).
As you'd expect, availability is an issue right now. At the time of writing, the console was basically unavailable at all the aforementioned online retailers. The pre-orders did go live few weeks back and those who managed to purchase one back then should be receiving them from today but it doesn't look like you can purchase one right now unless you got lucky at your local offline retailer.
Sony India was kind enough to send us a unit to review before launch. We will be posting our thoughts on it over the next few days.
