Apple employees to return to offices starting February 1 under the hybrid work pilot

Apple employees who've been working from home since last year after the COVID-19 spread across the world will have to return to offices starting February 2022, reports The Information, which obtained an internal memo sent by Apple CEO Tim Cook to the company's staff.

Apple has asked its workers to return to offices starting February 1, 2022 as a part of the hybrid work pilot, which will let employees work remotely for four weeks a year.

Apple previously allowed two weeks of remote work a year, but it's offering additional two weeks now to provide "more opportunity to travel, be closer to your loved ones, or simply shake up your routines."

The hybrid work pilot will initially require Apple

employees to work for one or two days in the office, and then in March, the staff will have to come to the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday while being allowed to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays.

However, employees in important roles requiring more time in the office won't be a part of the hybrid work pilot and may be asked to come to the office four or five days a week.

Apple first announced the hybrid work model in June as it wanted to ask its employees to return to the offices in September, but the plans got pushed to October, then January 2022, and now to February.

It will be interesting to see how things pan out for Apple with this hybrid work model since its employees have demanded a more flexible policy for remote work.
