Welcome to another week's recap. The biggest story of the week was the arrival of the Oppo Find N. It has a much smaller footprint than the Galaxy Z Fold3. Outside, the Find N has a 5.49-inch 18:9 display - a standard aspect and an easier one to use, compared to the Fold3's 25:9 outer screen. On the inside, the Find N has a 7.1-inch 8.4:9 main screen, which is only slightly narrower than a square.
The Oppo Find N sold out in China, and the maker is as of now not planning to make it available outside.
We saw an alleged live image of the Galaxy S22, while the Ultra received FCC certification. Also, according to renowned insider @UniverseIce, the Galaxy S22 Ultra captures much nicer images than its predecessor, thanks to better image processing.
The Galaxy S22 series is coming next month. Three support pages for the three devices were uncovered on Samsung's website, confirming the model names - SM-S901U, SM-S906U, and SM-S908U.
The Xiaomi 12 series might arrive in 2021 still. Leaked renders gave us a look at the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and its camera-packed rear panel. It shows four cameras - using the power of deduction we can expect the main one, an ultrawide, a periscope zoom, which leaves the fourth to be either a shorter or longer zoom, or a depth-sensing unit. What's interesting is the Leica logo on the renders of the 12 Ultra - it will be interesting what the famous German company does to better the Xiaomi 12 Ultra's cameras.
That's it for this week. Only two left to go until 2022!
Oppo went for a smaller device and picked a sane 18:9 aspect ratio for the external display (the internal one is 8.4:9).
There are no official scores for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but its expected performance is slightly below that of the Dimensity.
The SM-S901U, S906U and S908U are the US versions of the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra/Note, respectively.
The company will unveil its first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered smartphone next week.
