Tecno launched the Spark 9 series in early June starting with the Spark 9 Pro and following it up a few weeks later with the Spark 9T. Now arrives the most affordable version of the two, though they may not be available in overlapping markets as the vanilla model launches in India.

Like the 9T, the Tecno Spark 9 is powered by the Helio G37. There are three memory configurations available: 3/64GB, 4/64GB and 6/128GB. A microSD slot is available for more storage and there is also a virtual RAM option. The phone runs Android 12 and 8.6 out of the box.

The screen is the same – a 6.6” IPS LCD with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. It has 720 x 1,600px resolution (20:9). Notched into it is an 8MP camera (a downgrade from the 32MP camera of the 9T).
The cameras on the rear are basically the same – there is a 13MP main cam and a secondary module (its function is unclear, probably a depth sensor). The fingerprint reader is also on the camera bump (instead of being mounted on the side).

Moving on, the battery capacity is the same with 5,000mAh capacity. The phone comes with a charger and cable in the retail package, plus a TPU protective cover. Note the other downgrade compared to the T-phone, this one uses microUSB instead of USB-C. On the plus side the 3.5mm headphone jack is still on board.

The Tecno Spark 9 has a starting price of ₹9,500, which converts to around $120. The Spark 9T is not (yet) available in India, but in Nigeria it started at the equivalent of $190. The Spark 9 will go on sale on Amazon India on July 23 (Saturday).
