Elon Musk Could Be First Person Worth Over $1 Trillion By 2027, Adani in the list too

A stratospheric fortune.  Billionaire Elon Musk  could become the first man to enter the trillionaire club, with $1,000 billion in wealth, as early as 2027, according to  the report  "2024 Trillion Dollar Club" , published Friday by Informa Connect Academy, a branch of the British publisher Informa, specializing in economic intelligence.

With an average annual growth in wealth of 109.88%, Elon Musk would therefore be "the favorite to become the first billionaire by 2027" , write the authors of the report. If his fortune continues to grow at the same rate, which does not exclude that this growth could also slow down, depending on the results of his companies or the economic context. The owner of the car manufacturer Tesla, the aerospace company SpaceX and the social network X (ex-Twitter), whose fortune reaches 237 billion dollars  according to Bloomberg , was already expected to be the first to enter this club by analysts at the Morgan Stanley bank in 2021.

Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates are outdated

He would not remain alone for long, because the Indian Gautam Adani, chairman and founder of the Adani group, would join him in 2028. The businessman from the energy sector sees his fortune ($99.6 billion) grow by 122.86% per year on average, according to the report. The same year, Jensen Huang, co-founder and boss of the  flagship of Tech Nvidia with phenomenal growth , would be the third entrant. His fortune, today $90.5 billion, grows by 111.88% on average each year. Also in 2028, it should be the turn of the Indonesian Prajogo Pangestu (at the head of an oil and mining group) to enter the club, if his fortune continues to grow at the current rate of +135.95% per year.

The accelerated growth of the wealth of these billionaires is shaking up the ranking of the world's largest fortunes.  Bernard Arnault , currently in third place with $181 billion according to Bloomberg, sees his wealth grow "only" by 29.33% per year, according to the report, which does not see the LVMH boss becoming a billionaire before 2030.

Jeff Bezos , the founder of Amazon, the second richest man in the world with $195 billion (+15.27% per year), will not be there before 2036. He will be overtaken by Mark Zuckerberg ($178 billion, +35.76% per year), who will, at this rate, be a billionaire by 2030. For a long time the richest man on the planet, Microsoft founder Bill Gates sees his fortune of $157 billion "stagnate" (compared to the others): with growth of "only" 7.16%, he will not be part of the club before 2054.

No female billionaire before 2040

It should be noted that as things stand, the billionaires' club is likely to resemble a "boys club" for at least a few years. The first woman expected to join  is a Frenchwoman  : Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, daughter of Liliane Bettencourt and a member of L'Oréal's management, will not be there before 2040, according to the authors of the report. These forecasts are based on the average growth in the fortunes of current billionaires, regardless of the economic context expected in the coming years, but they can, of course, change.
