Different Types of Memory

All of devices, we are using have a memory. But there are different types of Memory. Mostly We know about storage which is also a type of Memory. With out memory, the digital devices won't work even our mobile, laptops and calculators.

Types Of Memory

• Random Access Memory (RAM)
• Read Only Memory (ROM)
• Storage

There are so many types but these three are very popular

Random Access Memory

 It can be read and write by system. The user runs a program.The program needs a small amount of Memory for the processing. The processing process is done by CPU. So this memory is directly can be accessed by CPU. But user can't access it directly. We can upgrade RAM memory in PC and Laptops by installing hardware. We can't upgrade it using software. The program started by user needs fast memory for working. So the RAM is very fastest memory than storage. Because of that we can't use the storage as RAM.

Read Only Memory

 All of our computers and mobiles have this type memory. It is a permanent memory. We can not upgrade it by installing new hardware. It is placed on a chip in a board. It used only when boots up a computer or mobile. Even calculators and some other devices is also using ROM memory. The files which is need when boot up is only saved in the ROM memory. ROM memory is also fastest but not so fast as RAM. 

Storage

 All of us know about this memory. This one is not fastest one. SD cards, Hard disks , SSD and some other are the example of Storage devices. It specially made for save or transfer files. The User and the System can access the memory. The operating systems in the PC is installed in this type of memory. This is very huge in size.
